In God's Service...
_____Elizabeth Lewis Missionary Society_____
The Elizabeth Lewis MS is committed to serving others. Known as one of the longest standing ministries at Bethel, the ELMS has made an impact in the Boonton community, the surrounding areas and beyond. In recent years, the WMS has provided scholarship support to college students; purchased book bags and supplies for young people in Boonton and abroad; provided resources for people who were sick and shut-in; and responded to people in crisis- Hurricane Katrina, addictions, etc.
Bethel’s ELMS has committed itself to three areas of focus: First, Internal Ministry - It is important to the Bethel family that members of the Bethel family are well. The WMS visits, calls and sends card to person who are sick or shut-in. In addition, the Young People’s Division (YPD), which is a subsidiary of the WMS makes card get well cards for sick members.
Secondly, Community Ministry - A central focus of ministry is outreach. It is the charge of the WMS to bring the message of Christ to persons within our local community. We do this through food baskets, clothing drives and visits to area hospitals or nursing homes. Regular Health presentations take place for the community to help keep people informed about the benefits of good health.
The Community Ministry aspect of the WMS isn’t limited to just the City of Boonton, NJ, but it expands to the surrounding area as well.
Finally, International Ministry-We realize that there are sisters and brothers struggling around the world. Bethel has committed itself toward doing its part in eradicating issues of injustice from around the world. Education is a primary focus of the church and Bethel has provided resources for children overseas.
The ELMS is committed to serving others at home, in the community and abroad. If you are interested in receiving more information, please contact the church office. Be blessed in the Lord!
